Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking official commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
