Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He defended four early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
